![]() Jason JaffrayJason spent five years playing in the Western Hockey League with the Edmonton/Kootenay Ice and the Swift-Current Broncos. He had quite a final year with the Broncos winning the following awards; Top Scorer, Leadership & Maturity and the 3 Star. Jason has spent the past few years in the ECHL and AHL. In his pro rookie year he was a 3 time winner of rookie of month and then won the rookie of the year award for the ECHL as well as playing in the All Star game. 2004-2005 was a breakout season for Jason, as he spent most of the year in the AHL with Cleveland and Manitoba. In 2006-2007 Jason had another great year leading the Moose in Scoring and winning almost every award the team has, as well as playing the the AHL All-Star game. In 2008 Jason signed an NHL contract with the Vancouver Canucks and made his NHL debut scoring a goal and an assist in his first game. This will be Jason's seventh year instructing at the Hockey Schools. Jason is married to Michelle and they live in Winnipeg, MB with their daughter, Kennedy. For Jason's hockey bio click here ![]() Nolan BaumgartnerWe are very lucky to have Nolan on the staff at Edge. Not many schools can say they have a NHL player teaching your children everyday. Nolan spent 4 years in the WHL playing for the Kamloops Blazers, where he won two Memorial Cup in 1994 and 1995. Nolan then started his pro career which has lasted 13 years and included 131 games in the NHL. Not only has he had a great playing career but now he is an assistant coach with the Kootenay ICE. After spending 3 years in the WHL Kris was drafted by the New York Islanders. Kris earned a degree from the University of Alberta while playing hockey there for 5 years. For a look at Kris's hockey and coaching career click here.![]() Shaun HeshkaShaun is a good Saskatchewan boy who was born and raised in Melville, SK. He played all his minor hockey there as well as starting his junior career there with the Mellville Millionaires.Shaun made the jump to the WHL with the Everett Silvertips in 2003-2004. After 3 successful seasons in Everett Shaun made the jump to pro signing as a free agent with the Vancouver Canucks. Shaun has spent most of the past three seasons with the Canucks affiliate the Manitoba Moose. For a look at Shaun's career click here ![]() Brad PattersonBrad spent four years playing in the NCAA with Michigan Tech. He graduated in 2002 with a degree in business. At the end of the 2002 season Brad played with the Knoxville Speed of the UHL. Brad played in Italy in 2002/2003 and then spent two years playing in the CHL with the Colorado Eagles and the Witchita Thunder.Then Brad went back to Europe and played in the British Elite League, then came back to the CHL to play for the Youngstown Steel Hounds and then again Brad again went back to play in the British Elite League. Brad is currently playing in the SPHL with the Columbus Cottonmouths. Brad was born in Cranbrook, BC and still calls it home in the off-season and he has been instructing at the Hockey Schools since 2001. For a look at Brad's hockey career click here ![]() Tab LardnerEdge Hockey must have a pipeline to Michigan Tech because Tab is the 5th player from there to work for Edge. He was born and raised in Edmonton, AB and played Junior A hockey in Alberta before getting a scholarship to the NCAA.After graduating from Michigan Tab went on to his pro career. Tab has played 7 straight seasons in the CHL with Austin, Topeka, Wichita, Arizona and Youngstown. An amazing fact is in those 7 years Tab never missed a game due to injury. 2007-2008 saw Tab try another league for the first time playing in the IHL for the Port Huron Icehawks. After finishing 2nd in league scoring Tab is again playing for the Icehawks this season. Dustin's home town is Kelowna, BC and he attended the Colorado Avalanche's training camp this past year. He has been playing pro hockey now for 3 years and has split his time between the AHL and the ECHL. This is one staff who was an instant hit with all the participants. One minute Ian will be perfectly teaching you the wrist shot and the next he will have you rolling on the ice in laughter. Ian is from Ft. Saskatchewan and has been playing for the ICE since 2005-2006. Brad was born in Miniota, MB and played his minor hockey in Manitoba. He drafted by the Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL) and joined the team for 6 games before moving onto the Kootenay Ice where he became a huge part of the team and one of it's leaders.In 2005-2006 Brad joined the Saskatoon Blades and was named their captain. Kevin is from Calgary, AB but has been playing for the ICE since 2006-2007. For a look at Kevin's hockey career click here.![]() Paul CabanaA sixth round Draft pick of the Vancouver Canucks in 1998, played four years of college hockey a Michigan Tech. Member of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association all-star team that toured Norway his Junior year. Following Paul's senior year he left school and finished the season with the Manitoba Moose. He played only 17 games his first full year of pro due to shoulder surgery, but played most of my second year with the Columbia Inferno including two stints that year with the Manitoba Moose. Paul then spent several season playing in the ECHL and Europe.The past two seasons have found Paul back in Europe playing in both England and Germany. In 2002-2003 Paul and the Florida Everblades won the league championships (Kelly Cup) and Paul finishing fourth in ECHL playoff scoring. Paul has been an instructor at Edge since 2003. For a look at Paul's hockey career click here ![]() Jordan HenryJordan is a defenseman who was born in Milo, AB where he played his minor hockey before moving onto the WHL and now pro. He joined the Moose Jaw Warriors in 2003-2004 where he spent 2 and a half years before joining the Red Deer Rebels where he finished up his junior career.Jordan signed as a few agent with the Florida Panthers in the summer of 2007 and started the year with the club. He has spent this year with the Rochester Americans (AHL) in his second year of pro hockey. Jordan has been training with Edge Conditioning in the summer and joined the Edge Hockey School staff this past summer. Shane played his minor hockey in Russell and then continued to play near home for the Waywayseecappo Wolverines in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. Shane spent four years with the Wolverines before earning a scholarship to College of St. Scholastica where he will work toward his degree while playing hockey. Chris played four years with the Concordia Thunder of the ACAC (winning the ACAC Championships in 2003) while working on his B.A. in Education. Chris played Jr. B in Brooksfield, NS prior to that. Chris also played Senior AAA with the Beaumont Warriors in the Chinook Hockey League. He is now finished his teaching degree and is working in Airdrie, AB. Chris has worked at the hockey schools since 2003.![]() Joey MartiniJoey is a first year staff member with Edge who hails from Calgary, AB. After spending a few years in the AJHL, Joey has now spent the last 5 years playing at St. Scholastica University in Duluth, MN. 4 years in a row Joey has been named to the NCHA All Academic team. After a couple of years with the Wayway Wolverines Riley enrolled in University at St. Scholastica and is presently playing for the Saints. For a look at Riley's junior career click here.![]() Ashley JaffrayAshley comes to us from Quinnipiac University in Connecticut where she played Division 1 hockey and graduated with her degree in Broadcast Journalism. In those four years, she set a school record for most games played at 133 and an NCAA record for two short-handed goals in 18 seconds. She was named to the All-Academic team for four years and won awards for Outstanding Freshmen, team spirit, seventh player and multiple community service awards.Ashley is an Olds Alberta native who previously trained at the Olympic Oval in Calgary and played Midget AAA hockey for Airdrie Lightning. She is the assistant coach for the University of Manitoba women's hockey team and for Team Alberta Softball. She is currently playing hockey as a member of Senior Team Manitoba. She is the assistant marketing coordinator at the UofM. Ashley also plays competitive softball for the Canadian Xtreme. For a look at Ashley's current coaching position click here ![]() Brittony ChartierBrittony is from Saskatoon, SK and is a 3 time Air Canada Cup champion with Team Canada's Under-22 Team, a national gold and silver medalist with team Alberta, along with a two time NWHL and one time WWHL champion with the Calgary Oval X-Treme.Brittony is also a Canadian Winter Games bronze medalist with Team Sask. While competing with the Minnesota Golden Gophers, the team finished 2nd nationally in the Frozen Four. Brittony took the 2007-2008 season off, but is back playing NCAA Div. 1 with the St. Lawrence Saints in Canton, Ny. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Physical Education and she has since become a certified Athletic Therapist. She was the Panda's athletic therapist for four years and was then the athletic therapist for the Olds Grizzly's of the AJHL hockey team for 3 years. Several years Megan worked each morning with any of the Edmonton Oilers who are injured. She currently lives in St. Alber, AB but was born in Peace River, AB.![]() Casey IrvingCasey has been training in our Edge Conditioning program for a few years now and decided last year to join our hockey school staff. Casey is from Okotoks, AB and played 2 years at Bemidji State in the NCAA, before coming home to play for the University of Calgary Dinos. For a look at Casey's current team click here.![]() Dan HalberDan has played 5 years of rep hockey and was considered an amazing goalie prospect in Cranbrook until injuries started to catch up with him. One of his most successful years was 2nd year Bantam AA in the South Central Alberta Hockey League where they finished first in the league and won in the league playoffs He also competed in the Bantam AAA Provincials in Campbell River where they placed 4th in BC. Dan is born and raised in Cranbrook, BC where he is finishing up his schooling and planning to start post secondary school somewhere soon. Dan attended the Niedermayer Hockey School for two years and then started working as a junior leader for two more years. He has now spent the last few summers working at Edge Hockey as a goaltending instructor and team leader.![]() Adam TresoorAdam joined our hockey school staff for the first time in 2008. Having played his junior hockey in several Junior A leagues Adam finished up his junior career with the Grande Prairie Storm. Adam started university in 2006-2007 and is presently playing for the Augustana Vikings. Adam calls Calgary, AB home. For a look at Adam's hockey career click here.![]() Shannon LehmannShannon attended the Theoren Fleury Hockey School in Russell, MB for a number of years, when she was too old for the hockey school she started working with Edge as a junior leader. She has now been working at the schools in the summer for past 5 summers and is one of our best team leaders.Shannon is Manitoba born and raised and she still calls it home, living in Winnipeg in her second year of nursing at the University of Manitoba. She has played on numerous hockey teams in her career and has now played 3 years in the Winnipeg Women's Senior Hockey League with the Warriors. Shannon also spent a year at school down in Texas. ![]() Jay NelsonJay has been playing, coaching and doing other duties in hockey for over 30 years. He was an Assistant Coach/GM with the Kimberley Dynamiters of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League last season. Jay and his wife Lorinda, along with Andrea, Lori and Mike call Cranbrook home. Jay has been instructing at the hockey schools since 2000.![]() Kenny ChuchmuchKenny has been instructing at the Hockey Schools since 1997 and played his Minor Hockey days in Russell, MB where he’s won 8 Provincial Championships including a Bronze Medal at the Western Canadian Bantam Championships. Kenny played ‘AAA’ Midget for the Parkland Rangers and Junior in the MJHL while he attended University. He also came out of retirement this past winter where he got to travel to Helsinki, Finland to play in a Tournament. Kenny works as a Finance Specialist for Air Canada and keeps busy traveling, coaching, reffing hockey and being a mascot in the CFL for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.![]() Addison MilesAddison join Edge for the first time in 2008. She has attended the University of Manitoba for the past couple of years playing hockey for the women's hockey team. In her first year she was the CIS Rookie of the year award and she has gone on to take her team the the National Championships the past two years.![]() Mike NelsonMike spent the 2008 - 2009 season with the Kimberley Dynamiters of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League. Mike developed his hockey skills in the Cranbrook Minor Hockey Association. While playing for the Cranbrook Midget AAA ICE, Mike was named the South Central Alberta Hockey League's Most Exemplary Player in 2008. He was also named to the SCAHL All Star team in Bantam in 2006 and Midget in 2008.Mike recently graduated from Mount Baker Secondary School in Cranbrook and is heading to the College of the Rockies this fall. His plans are to become a Phys. Ed. teacher and coach at the High School level. Mike has attended the Niedermayer Hockey School since it started and has worked as Junior Leader for the past three years. He also worked the Edmonton Edge Hockey School and the Calgary Edge Hockey School. ![]() Cassidy NemezCassidy is 20 years old and was born and raised in Russell, MB. She has played hockey for 13 years, mostly in the Russell Minor Hockey system. She also played with the Parkland Panthers, a Midget Female AA Hockey team where she played for 3 years. The Panthers are the Western Canadian Shield bronze medal champions. Cassidy played one year in Calgary and attending SAIT, while playing for the women's hockey team there. Cassidy has worded at Edge Hockey for 5 years now.![]() Mark KayThis will be Mark's 5th year at the schools, with it being the second he has focused on the conditioning aspect of the camp. Mark is a N.A.I.T. graduate, Personal Trainer (who works in a fitness club in Edmonton), as well as running his own training business.Mark has been involved in hockey for the past 17 years, through playing, coaching and now training teams and individual players. This past season, he coached and trained the Bantam A League Champions out of St. Albert, Alberta. He is currently involved in training the general public, as well as N.H.L. players and junior players. ![]() Gabi WintnerGabi was born and raised in Calgary, AB where she played all her minor hockey as well. Gabi is an all around athlete having lettered in 4 sports at High School (hockey, soccer, track and basketball).Gabi was selected to the top 40 Alberta players in 2004-2005 as well as being the captain on her own team. She won provincials in 2002-2003 and has always been a member of the Honors Society. In 2005-2006 Gabi started on her university career at Union College in New York, where she also began her NCAA hockey career. In 2006-2007 she was named to the All-Academic team. ![]() Courtney ParkerCourtney Parker is 20 and is attending her second year university at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops B.C. Courtney is studying Kinesiology and hopes to be a sports trainer when she graduates. Courtney has played hockey for 15 years with the Summerland Minor Hockey Association as a defenseman and then with the Midget AAA Female team with the Penticton Minor Hockey Association. Courtney has been awarded the Unsung Hero award in 2006 with the AAA team and with her last year of Minor Hockey was awarded the Most Inspirational Player award. Courtney now plays for the Kamloops Vibe which is a AA Women’s Hockey Team in Kamloops.Courtney has attended the Niedermayer Hockey School since it started and then has worked it for the past couple of years. Last year she also worked the Edmonton Edge Hockey School and the Calgary Edge Hockey School. ![]() Melinda UlmerMelinda was born and raised in Melville, SK and currently attends the University of Saskatchewan in her third year. She currently play for the Saskatoon Saskies Junior A hockey team whom are 2006-2007 provincial winners and competitors in the the Western Canadian Shield in Surrey, BC this past spring. This is her 15th season playing hockey and she played for the boys minor hockey teams in Melville and girls' minors for the Fort Qu'appelle Flyers (assistant captain) until midget.In midget Melinda played for the Melville AA Prairie Fire team, competing in the provincial B finals. She was selected for the University of Regina Cougar's Spring Top Prospect camp in 2005 and conditioned and attended spring and fall camps for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. She represented the Saskatchewan Zone 4 women's hockey team from 2002-2005 and was then selected for the Team Saskatchewan Top 64 roster in 2005. Melinda also helps coach Novice, Atom, and female minor teams in Melville and runs tryout camps. ![]() Jamie ImesonJamie is a gem we found right in the city of Edmonton. Jamie new some people who worked at Edge and phone up to see if he could volunteer at the schools in the summer. Well 5 years later we could not have made a better choice than to bring Jamie on. He is currently attending NAIT in Edmonton as well as playing on a local team and coaching a bantam team. He is an amazing group leader that truly cares about every child under his care.![]() Brett ParkerBrett Parker is 21 and is attending his fourth year of university at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops B. C. Brett is taking Bachelor of Arts majoring in Theatre and English. Brett played hockey with the Summerland Minor Hockey Association for 14 years.Brett still plays hockey when he can even though he is busy with his university studies. Brett has attending the Niedermayer Hockey School since it started and has worked both the Niedermayer Hockey School and the Edge Hockey School in Edmonton. ![]() Jenesse MillerJenessa was born and raised in Langenburg, SK, She is attending the University of Saskatchewan and currently plays for Saskatoon Saskies Junior A hockey team. The Saskies are provincial winners and silver medalist in the Western Canadian Shield. Entering in her 15th year of playing hockey Jenessa played most of her Minor hockey in Langenburg, for the boys team until second year bantam. In 2002-03 Jenesse played for played for the Sask Prairie Fire Midget AA, 2003-06 Played for the Parkland Panthers midget AA team, being league champs all 3 years and provincial silver medalists as well as bronze medalists in Western Canadian shield. Also being the assistant captain in her last season. Represented Zone 4 for Saskatchewan in 2005.![]() Heidi SpencerHeidi is 18 years old, and lives in Summerland BC. She started playing hockey at the age of 8 with Summerland Minor Hockey, where she played for 5 years on mixed teams. In 2006, she was carded to play with the Female Midget AAA Vees of Penticton, where she is currently playing and finishing up her schooling. Heidi attended the Niedermayer Hockey School in Cranbrook for 4 years before she started working at Edge Hockey School. Last summer she worked as a junior leader and as a team leader. Heidi also helps to coach to Penticton Mini Vees, teaching the fundamentals of hockey to five and six-year-olds.![]() Patrick DibbPatrick comes to Edge Hockey from Invermere, B.C. where he played his minor hockey as well as being backup goalie for the Columbia Valley Rockies Junior B team of the KIJHL.Patrick is 17 but has already spent two seasons as an enthusiastic junior instructor and team leader. During the regular hockey season he runs a weekly goalie clinic for minor hockey goalies in Invermere. Patrick is excited to be going to Notre Dame in Saskatchewan this fall for his grade 12 year while playing for the Notre Dame AA midget team. ![]() Amanda KirkvoldAmanda was born and raised in Cranbrook, BC and has been playing minor hockey for nine years as a defenseman. Eight of those years have been in the boys league, as well as playing on 3 rep teams.Amanda is currently playing with the Female Midget Girls Rep team. She played in the 2004 Friendship tournament in Cranbrook and played in the 2008 Winter Games in Cranbrook supporting the East Kootenays and is also going to Provincials with the girls team. Amanda attended the Niedermayer Hockey school 2 years prior to becoming a junior leader. She is finishing up her high school and hopes to go onto college or university some and also continue player hockey. ![]() Alyssa ReaghJunior LeaderAlyssa grew up in Stonewall, MB and still calls it home while she is finishing high school. Alyssa is another one of your staff who started out as a participant in one of our schools. She attended the Theoren Fleury Hockey School in Russell, MB for a number of years. Once Alyssa was too old for the hockey school she jumped right into a staff position and we are so lucky to have her. She is currently the captain of the Stonewall Midget Girls team which plays in the Winnipeg city league, where she represented her team in the All-Star game. Alyssa played for the Stonewall Rams Collegiate team in 2006-2007 as well as the AAA Winnipeg Royals and she even had time to fit in her coaching level 1 certificate. ![]() Desirae BarrettDesirae was born and raised in Cranbrook, BC where she attended the Niedermayer Hockey School for a number of years before joining us as junior leader last summer.Desirae started playing hockey at the age of 6 and has played mostly on boys teams. However this year she is on the Cranbrook Midget Female team the Icebreakers. Desirae will also be participating in the BC Winter Games this year with the Zone 1 Kootenay Team where she hopes to continue to move on in her hockey career from there. Desirae has attended the Parkland School hockey academy for a number of years and is currently enrolled at Mount Baker Senior High. ![]() Nikki MathewsNikki grew up in Stonewall, MB and started playing hockey when she was 4 years old with the boys. At 9 she began playing on a female team and has always played up a level. Nikki is now in her 13th year of minor hockey.In 2004 Nikki played on the Interlake POE team (players of excellence) and last hockey season played on her highschool team and this hockey season she is again back with her minor hockey team in Stonewall. Stonewall plays in the Midget A league and Nikki's team is currently in first place with more than 100 goals for us and under 10 against. Nikki attended the Theoren Fleury Hockey School in Russel for 3 years and then last year came on as a junior leader in both Winnipeg and Calgary. ![]() Alana ParkerAlana is 16 years old and lives in Summerland, B. C. Alana has played hockey for 9 years with the Summerland Minor Hockey Association. Alana has been playing full time goalie for the past 4 years.Alana has attended the Niedermayer Hockey School as a player since it started and this year will be her second year working at the school. Alana was selected as the alternate goalie for the U18 Zone team that will attend the Winter Games in Cranbrook. In the off season Alana plays on a U16 District soccer team. ![]() Leon ChurchJunior LeaderLeon is 17 and was born in Bowsman, MB. and currently lives there, however he spent his first 9 years of hockey in Winnipeg MB. His first year back in Bowsman / Swan Valley he captured the peewee AA MVP of the season. He continued playing for Swan Valley Minor Hockey throughout bantam, when he also represented the Parkland Region in the 2006 P.O.E tournament and the 2007 Morden Directors Cup. He is currently finishing up his second year of midget with the Parkland Rangers AAA Midget Hockey Club, where he hopes to continue playing for 1 or 2 more years until his midget hockey is over while working towards a higher level. ![]() Shane SmithShane grew up in Manitoba and moved to Cranbrook, BC in 2003. Shane has attended Edge Hockey Schools in Manitoba and BC for 8 yrs until he became a junior leader in 2007. Shane is currently enrolled in Mount Baker Secondary School. He has been playing Rep hockey since Atom and continues to play today and enjoy the game.![]() Zac RichardJunior LeaderZac started playing hockey at 2 years old in Bowsman, MB and then went on and played all his minor hockey in Swan Valley, MB. Zac had the privilege of attending the Directors Cup in Morden, MB and representing the Parkland District of Manitoba. In the summer of 2007he played with the Manitoba AAA Polar Ice and captured bronze at the Brandon AAA Source for Sports Tournament. Zac is 17 and is currently playing with the Swan Valley midget AA Stampeders, as a first year midget player. He hopes to continue on and play soon for the Swan Valley Stampeders (Junior A) who own his rights in the MJHL. ![]() Matthew ZaranMatthew attended the Niedermayer Hockey School in Cranbrook for a number of years before joining us as a junior leader two years ago.Matthew is a resident in Regina, SK and he is in his 11th year of hockey with Hockey Regina as a power forward with a big focus on sportsmanship. Matt looks forward to sharing his love of the game with some young people and continuing his hockey career as far as it will take him. ![]() Thomas Stuart-DantJunior LeaderA 19 year old resident of Winnipeg, MB, Thomas is currently a freshman playing U.S college hockey in North Dakota with the ACHA Division 1 Minot State University Beavers. While attending Minot State, he is majoring in Athletic Training and Physical Education. Thomas is also an accomplished in-line hockey player. He was a 2008 league All-Star, played two years for Team Manitoba and won a Canadian National Championship in 2006 for Manitoba. He is a well rounded athlete who played soccer, team handball, golf, badminton and track for his high school while winning the 2008 United Way Community Service Award. 2010 will be Thomas’ 5th year with Edge Hockey Schools. |
